One rainy day last April, about two weeks before our wedding, we set out to the tiny, beautiful town of Elmira, Ontario with our wonderful wedding photographer, Cliff Marck, to do a very last minute engagement shoot. We'd been jumping back and forth between the U.S. and Canada for the eight months before we got married and somehow the stars never aligned for a photo shoot until just before our wedding day. We had planned to do the shoot a month before the wedding and were hit with thunderstorms. We rescheduled it for two weeks before the wedding in hopes of a sunny day and were met with rain again. We figured that it was now or never and did it anyway. I am so glad we did because the photos turned out to be magical and ethereal and so perfectly us. It rained on our wedding day too. I'm not sure I'd have wanted it any other way, now that I look back.
Here is a selection of photos from our engagement shoot. Taken on a misty, dreamy, beautiful spring day in a tiny little Canadian town.

Perfect and golden, even in the gray drizzle. I can't express how happy these photos make me to look at. I'm not sure why we were ever hoping for a sunny day for this shoot because we are such rain people. We're both always happier when it rains.
I'll be sharing our wedding photos next month when our first anniversary rolls around as part of a little "wedding week" series of posts that I have planned.
I hope you're having a wonderful Thursday!
